Image and photo manipulation traditionally takes place in a graphics package outside a content management system . Beyond has image optimization tools built in that speed up the process of displaying images (and to avoid the use of oversized and slow loading images).

It is possible to take a picture directly from an image capture device and upload it into the system. At the time of upload, the image is optimised for the web, its colour depth and size on disk is reduced.

The e-commerce engine, if installed, asks you to upload the highest quality image of the product that you have. It then creates three different web optimised images of that product automatically. The original large file is deleted.
